Marmalade on Toast with Olive Oil
You know how to make toast. But have you ever swapped the butter for a strong pungent pure olive oil and made marmalade on toast with olive oil?
If you haven't, yet, now's the time...
Oh, and it's great for a healthy heart too!
putting marmelade toast with olive oil together
Here's how to do it - take your favourite bread and toast it to perfection.
Then, instead of adding butter (think cholesterol, think climate), add Serriana Olive Oil and then, top with your favourite bitter orange or Sevilla orange marmalade!
It's the best combination of the slightly burnt crunch of perfected toasted bread with the smooth but smoky flavour of the best olive oil from the Sierra Espadan.
Then the bitter sweet tang of great marmalade.
Mmmm! It's the best!
So what is the best bread for marmalade on toast with olive oil?
Well, if you want the best taste - I would recommend a course flour bread - like a granary loaf. The oil soaks into this type of bread really well and the bitterness of the marmalade stands out.
Equally, if you are looking for a heart healthy option, then choose an artisan marmalade - made with a much higher fruit content, much lower sugar content and far less processed.
As far as your bread is concerned - the rule of thumb is to avoid anything sold in a plastic bag!
Equally, white bread is frequently made from flour that is more heavily processed.
Either way, choose your bread from a local baker where you can ask whether the flour is processed with chemicals (a lot of flour is forced-aged with chemicals) or allowed to age naturally.
